Our most frequent callouts across Breckland and Norfolk are for rat infestations and wasp nests. Both are urgent problems that should be dealt with quickly and professionally. Here's what to look out for and how we handle each.
Rats are highly adaptable rodents that thrive wherever there is food, water and shelter — making homes, outbuildings, farms and commercial premises across Norfolk natural targets. A single pair can multiply into a serious infestation within weeks.
Beyond the obvious nuisance, rats cause real damage. They gnaw through wiring, insulation, pipework and stored goods, and they carry diseases such as leptospirosis and salmonella that pose a genuine risk to people, pets and livestock.
Common signs include dark capsule-shaped droppings, greasy smear marks along skirtings, scratching noises overnight and chewed packaging or woodwork. If you spot any of these, act quickly — populations grow fast.
Our treatment combines targeted baiting, trapping and proofing of entry points, all carried out in line with CRRU UK Wildlife Aware best practice to protect non-target wildlife.

Wasps become active across Norfolk from late spring through to autumn, with nests reaching peak size and aggression in August and September. A mature nest can contain several thousand wasps and pose a serious risk to anyone living or working nearby — particularly anyone with a sting allergy.
Nests are typically built in lofts, eaves, garages, sheds, wall cavities and underground in old animal burrows. They start small in spring and can grow rapidly, so the earlier a nest is treated the safer and easier the job.
Disturbing a nest without proper protection almost always ends badly — wasps release alarm pheromones when threatened, summoning the rest of the colony to defend the nest. Shop-bought sprays rarely reach deep enough to be effective.
We treat nests safely in a single visit using professional-grade insecticide and full protective equipment. Activity usually ceases within a few hours.
